The Mahakaleshwar temple expansion project is going to be inagurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 It is a matter of pride for us that the Mahakaleshwar temple complex expansion project in one of our oldest cities, Ujjain, is going to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11 October. Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Every day lakhs of devotees visit the temple to worship Mahadev. In the olden times, this temple has endured a lot of atrocities and there have been many encroachments, but now this temple is going to be renovated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mahakaleshwar- Lord Shiva is considered to be the god of time. This temple is also mentioned in many ancient Indian texts.

The Madhya Pradesh government after discussions with its residents has settled peacefully with fair compensation. This change will have more impact on the traffic problem, congestion problem and safety etc. in the main cities and all will run smoothly. The stories of Lord Shiva in Mahakaleshwar temple are painted in traditional ways who are seated with their son Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikeya along with Mother Parvati. Along with this, you will also see the idols of Shiva Parvati marriage, Tandava form and Sapta Rishi.

As I told you earlier that Mahakaleshwar is the great lord of time in the form of Lord Shiva. According to many Puranas, the Ujjain temple was established by Prajapita Brahma. The old name of Ujjain was also Avanti, Avanti was an ancient center of scientific research in earlier times. Renowned mathematicians and astronomers like old-time scientists like Varahamihira Brahmagupta and Bhaskara Acharya traveled all over India and then made Ujjain their place. The reason for this was also that this city is considered to be the home of the prime or zero meridian. Ujjain has been an important city for ancient mathematicians as they used to calculate time by treating this city as a point. Today, we take our standard time as the city of Greenwich located in the UK, which we call GMT or Greenwich Mean Time.

The zero meridian from Ujjain is also considered by the ancient mathematician to intersect the Tropic of Cancer. Ujjain was called the navel of the world because the Hindu calendar - Panchang till date uses Ujjain only as the zero meridian. Talking about the main temple, it is three-storeyed - Mahakaleshwar in the lower part and Omkareshwar in the middle and Nagchandreshwar's linga are established in the top. There is also a pool called Koti Tirtha in the temple premises, which is built in Sarvato Bhadra style. It is believed that Mahakaleshwar Shivling is Swayambhu i.e. has manifested itself. There is a special type of aarti in the Mahakaleshwar temple, which is called Bhasma Aarti, this aarti also remains the center of attraction of the people. This is how our nation continues to grow and regenerate.
